"In Bruges Fansite" does well
I am posting this news not only because I'm actually proud of the statistics, even though they are nothing compared to a Perez Hilton or a big fansite that's been in the running and has climbed up the ladders like our lovely affiliates Colin Farrell Fansite and Ralph Fiennes Corner. I am also posting this to show to those who are fanlisted that their info is safe on the In Bruges Fansite.
Recently I have been approached by the bigger online ad-chains to promote their chains through ads on this website. Not just random companies, but the ones who first check your statistics to see if you are 'a worthy affiliate'. As I said this website is NOWHERE near actual popular fansites, but for an undergroundish site that was never even really supposed to grow anywhere beyond a personal collection, 3049 individual visitors and 127 links from other sites is pretty good.
Maybe you have noticed; I rolled up the counter to that number, since my hitcounter is pretty lousy (and free) and it didn't count from the very beginning, while these sites have software that just taps into that information. So if you've seen the counter move up about 150% - this is why. I'm not even going to start at hoping that anyone from the cast or Martin McDonagh himself is among that number of 3049. It's bizarre. Especially since I started the blog just to get info in order for myself and a handful of other people from the fansites who were interested.
Why does this prove your information on the fanlisting is safe? Because I could have become a member of those chains - they wouldn't have paid me much but they would have paid me, but I didn't. I didn't because I didn't want the ads, but most of all because it required spamming people through the site. And I refuse to do that. I refuse to tap into that kind of business in any way. Also as you may have noticed; I've put your email addresses in the fanlisting in such a manner that you can read them, but if you click them you end up nowhere. So spamming sites cannot just rack the list and bug you; the links are dead and the email addresses are noted in such a manner that it would take human effort to copy and email them. Spam machines can NOT get to you through the In Bruges Fansite and they never will.
This is not a profitable website and it never will be, for anyone except maybe perhaps and hopefully the actual artists who made the film.
