IFC Lists Praise and Criticism
Read it here.
I don't think copy-pasting is necessary. It's the sum of everything so far. However this article also lists the negative feedback, that mainly addresses racist jokes and a so-called "lack of purpose" to the film.
I never posted those reviews, because they are a very small minority. Like In Bruges, I think racism is a part of reality and if I chose to exclude the negative critic race than that is in honour of the film.
Maybe this is a moment where these critics can check their sense of humour and perspective, as most positive critics raved about the deeper meaning of the film. Sometimes holding up a mirror to an ugly part of society does serve purposes other than shocking, and sometimes a comic story that takes a few detours along the way and that lacks a clean-cut ending DOES have a purpose. I consider most of the negative opinions to be uptight and narrow minded. It's almost like they're still caught in the Alexander phase, back when it was 'hot' to shoot a film for all the easy reasons. The blond wig was not that bad, and the racist jokes in In Bruges aren't just purely tasteless. The wig had a purpose as the racist jokes do, and if you put a little effort into looking beyond it you can understand that yourself.
Thank you ladies and gentlemen, that was my rant for today.
